Conversation: Books – "Space" by:

TUESDAY, JUNE 9, 6:30–8PM
El Gabilan Library 1400 N. Main St. Salinas

Space, by James Michener.

An exploration of 20th-century space development, and the lives of six men and women dedicated to it. President John F. Kennedy challenged Americans and demanded that America put a man on the moon by the end of the 1960's, and in 1969 astronaut Neil Armstrong became the first man to walk on the moon.

Do you remember that proud day? Do you remember what Salinas was like that day? Or have you read about it in your history book? What do you think of people going into space? Would you like to go into Space one day? What would you do if you could actually go into Space?

You can find the book in the Salinas Public Library by clicking here, and join our librarians Tuesday night at El Gabilan Library for a fascinating conversation about Space, and how we got there!
